Carson recently joined Matrix to help bolster out IT team as we continue to modernize and improve Matrix. For this Employee Spotlight we decided to ask him a few questions about his time and experience at Matrix so far:
How long have you worked at Matrix?
I’ve been working for Matrix for just under 2 months at this point.
What do you like about your job?
I like the work environment and company culture. The office is also just the right size for me to keep me busy while also being able to work with everyone individually on their IT problems, which is nice.
Are there any skills or thing you’ve learned at Matrix since you’ve joined?
I’ve learned quite a lot about the software used here at Matrix, but I’ve also learned how to write and create formal documentation for certain IT procedures. I’ve read plenty of documentation at previous jobs, but outside of tickets I’ve never had to write anything myself.
Was there any job or task you’ve done at Matrix that is particularly notable?
There have been a few jobs, but I would say the most recent has been the front desk phone going down. After troubleshooting I realized that PoE wasn’t working for that ethernet port anymore, and there was a power outage the night before. After tracing the cable back to the server box, I determined that the port could no longer provide PoE after attempting to reconfigure it. I swapped the phone’s cable to a different port and reconfigured it to get it up and running.
What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or activities you like to do?
I typically go home and binge watch shows and play games. I also like understanding and configuring technology, so I will buy, take apart, and fix things I find interesting from time to time. The fact that everything is created also means everything can be fixed, which is fascinating to me.
