Meet Sarah: Supporting the People Behind Matrix

People are at the center of every company’s success, and at Matrix, Sarah helps lead that effort in a big way. As our HR Director, she supports the employee experience across recruiting, benefits, employee relations, safety, compensation, and more. For nearly six years, she has helped shape the systems, support, and culture that keep Matrix moving forward. We connected with Sarah to learn more about her role, what she enjoys most about the work, and the impact she has made along the way.

What is your role at Matrix?

I’m the HR Director at Matrix, and I oversee all things related to our people. That includes recruiting, employee relations, benefits, safety, compensation, and the overall employee experience. My role touches many parts of the business, but it all comes back to supporting our team.

How long have you worked at Matrix?

I’ve been with Matrix for almost six years.

What do you like about your job?

I love that no two days are the same. I really enjoy working with people, helping solve problems, and bringing emotional intelligence into different situations. I also value the chance to help build a culture that feels supportive and fun while making employees feel seen and appreciated.

Are there any skills or things you’ve learned at Matrix since you’ve joined?

Working at Matrix has strengthened my ability to problem solve, navigate tough conversations, and balance the people side of the business with operational needs. I’ve also learned a lot about how to build and refine processes as the company grows and changes. That has been a big part of my development in this role.

Was there any job or task you’ve done at Matrix that is particularly notable?

One of the most impactful parts of my role has been helping guide the company through different phases of the business cycle, including growth, restructuring, and challenging periods in between. Throughout all of that, my focus has been on making sure we continue taking care of employees while still moving the business forward. It has been rewarding to see the team come through those moments stronger, and I’m proud to have played a part in that.

What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or activities you enjoy?

I spend most of my free time with my husband and our son, Luke, and that is a huge priority for me. He is at such a fun age, and I love getting to watch him discover new things and experience life in a fresh way. I also enjoy cooking, traveling, yoga, and spending time with friends and family.
