What is your role at Matrix?
I’m an estimator. I’m responsible for building estimates and creating clear, accurate proposals and pricing to support the account managers, based on scopes they or the client develop, all with the guidance of Dallas.
How long have you worked at Matrix?
I’ve been with Matrix for a little over three years now.
What do you like about your job?
I like that every project is different. There’s always something new to price or figure out, and I enjoy problem-solving and making sure everything makes sense.
Are there any skills or things you’ve learned at Matrix since you’ve joined?
Working in different roles at Matrix has helped me see how every part of the company works together and how each role brings a different perspective to a project. Starting as a receptionist, then moving into service admin for plumbing and HVAC, and later project admin for construction gave me a strong understanding of project flow and coordination, which I now use as an estimator.
Was there any job or task you’ve done at Matrix that is particularly notable?
Several projects stand out from my time as a project admin. On some jobs, materials didn’t match what the client expected or pricing was outdated. That made my job difficult because I had to stay within budget while still making sure, we had what was needed to complete the work. Those experiences taught me the importance of being very clear in proposals about what’s included and keeping pricing current to avoid issues later.
What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or activities you enjoy?
In my free time, I like to relax and spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy staying busy outside of work, whether that’s getting out of the house, watching shows, or just unwinding when I can.
